【Alanis (2017)】
Overwatchhas a new voice line on Alanis (2017)the public test region (PTR) referencing the relationship between Tracer and her girlfriend for the first time in the game.
Blizzard revealed that Overwatch's coverstar Tracer is in a same-sex relationship with a woman named Emily back in December. But that reveal was in a comic on the Overwatchwebsite -- there was no reference to the relationship in the game and some players still don't know about it. Until now.
SEE ALSO: The new 'Overwatch' comic is already banned in Russia because of its LGBTQ heroThe PC-only PTR recently updated to give Tracer a new voice line that she'll have a chance of saying when waiting for the match to begin on the new moon-base map Horizon Lunar Colony. Here's the line, noticed by Tumblr user RedVevo and Mic:
The line, "Wonder if I have time to visit Emily? No, better stay focused," is currently only on the PTR along with the new map, but should be available on all platforms soon.
It isn't unusual for characters in Overwatchto reference things that happen outside the confines of multiplayer battles. Characters like Ana, Reinhardt, and Zarya will refer to past events, talk about each other, or reference people outside of the game's hero pool when on certain maps.
The odd thing about this line is that Tracer is wondering if she has time to visit Emily while on the moon. Does that mean that Emily is on the moon? Probably not. She was seen on Earth as recently as December and as far as we know only Winston ever made it off the moon (and possibly another genetically enhanced gorilla named Hammond).
Regardless, it's pretty awesome that this is being added into the game. Maybe we'll get some voice lines in the future that reference whatever it was that was happening between Genji and Mercy in that same comic.
