【eroticized woman】
The eroticized womanChris Gethard Showis not your typical talk show. And that's what makes it amazing.
Hosted by comedian Chris Gethard, The Chris Gethard Showis a wonderful, free-flowing mix of improv comedy, heartfelt stories, live music, call-ins, and camaraderie that combine to create some unforgettable and highly entertaining live television. Lucky for fans and anyone who wants to check it out, there's a ton of episodes available for free on the show's YouTube page.
SEE ALSO: Watch of the Week: Steven Universe is the best kid's cartoon for adults, periodSadly the show will not be coming back for another season, as Gethard announced in August, but The Chris Gethard Showis one of the most wholesome comedic shows to ever hit television -- certainly one worth watching.
Gethard's willingness to open up about his own life and problems makes him a relatable, friendly host, playing off great with other show staples and co-hosts like comedian Shannon O'Neil, Bethany Hall, Murf Meyer, the Human Fish, and house band The LLC.
Perhaps the best way to really explain the weird, wild world of The Chris Gethard Showis to point you toward an episode and let you experience it yourself.
This episode, "Show Us The Weirdest Thing About Your Body" from 2015, with guests Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, is a great introduction to the show without dipping all the way back to the show's early years:
The Chris Gethard Showshow ran from a variety of venues and on a variety of networks since its debut in 2009 at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City, but its indelible spirit that propelled it for years never faltered.
Since it moved to its humble television beginnings on the public access Manhattan Neighborhood Network in 2011, the show has delivered tons of amazing episodes and moments, all bolstered up by its sense of community and guests like Amy Poehler, Method Man, Hannibal Buress, Bobby Moynihan, and even a surprise visit from Diddy.
In 2015 it moved from public access to Fusion, where it lived for a couple of seasons before its final run on TruTV -- the only episodes aside from the UCB days that are not on YouTube.
Over the years, running gags and returning characters have given the show an insider feeling, but it's easy to understand what's going on no matter where you start in the series and feel like you're part of the whole crew.
There are hilarious episodes, heartfelt episodes, and some that are a little mix of the two, like when guest Will Ferrell presided over several fans' weddings.
And then there's the episode called "One Man's Trash," which is likely the best episode of The Chris Gethard Showand perhaps one of the most entertaining episodes of television of all time.
With guests Paul Scheer and Jason Mantzoukas, audience members and callers try to guess what's inside of a dumpster. It doesn't sound like a great idea for 45 minutes of TV, but it turns out to be an incredible show with a perfect ending.
The Chris Gethard Shownever really loses steam, despite putting out over 200 live episodes over the years, with the help of its intriguing topics, guests, and live callers who consistently throw curveballs.
It's a shame that it's over, but it's so much fun to dive into and offers a unique feeling that no other talk show has ever really captured.
