In a new effort to completely monopolize our hearts, One Direction's boy wonder appears on the cover of Rolling Stone and is featured as the subject of a new magazine story story written by Cameron Crowe.

In the feature, Styles comes off as a sensitive, career-focused (but not careerist) mama's boy who knows damn well that adoration is a two-way street. Oh, and he also really loves Nicholas Sparks.

Here's what Styles has to say about his adoring fans, the passionate future world leaders who catapulted four lads to international fame with the force of pure love:

Who's to say that young girls who like pop music – short for popular, right? – have worse musical taste than a 30-year-old hipster guy? That's not up to you to say. Music is something that's always changing. There's no goal posts. Young girls like the Beatles. You gonna tell me they're not serious? How can you say young girls don't get it? They're our future. Our future doctors, lawyers, mothers, presidents, they kind of keep the world going. Teenage-girl fans – they don't lie. If they like you, they're there.They don't act 'too cool.' They like you, and they tell you. Which is sick.

This is all very true.

In addition to giving love to his fans, Styles also clarifies why 1D took a hiatus. Styles says he brought up the idea of a break back in 2014 before Zayn Malik ever left the band because he was afraid of burning out. "You realize you're exhausted and you don't want to drain people's belief in you," he says.

Styles also discusses his relationship with Taylor Swift, but not before taking a bathroom break to bide time while he figured out a perfectly lovely way to describe their ultimately doomed relationship. "Actually, you can say, 'He went for a pee and never came back,' " Styles jokes.

He does come back, though, and outlines how confusing it was for him to be an 18-year-old boy whose second date with a girl was captured by the paparazzi. If those experiences become pop songs, so be it.

"I mean, I don't know if ['Out of the Woods' and 'Style' are] about me or not, but the issue is, she's so good, they're bloody everywhere. I write from my experiences; everyone does that. I'm lucky if everything [we went through] helped create those songs. That's what hits your heart," he explains. "That's the stuff that's hardest to say, and it's the stuff I talk least about. That's the part that's about the two people. I'm never going to tell anybody everything."

According to Styles, most his new album is about a different relationship with a girl he won't name (who may or may not be Kendall Jenner). Looks like we'll just have to wait and see for ourselves what Harry reveals about his heart when he unleashes Harry Styleson the world May 12.
