Activists trapped inside embattled east Aleppo have Moviestaken to Twitter to send heartbreaking "goodbye" messages as the Syrian government's forces close in.

Among them is Bana Alabed, a 7-year-old girl who in the past months, with the help of her mother Fatemah, has documented with the handle @AlabedBana the grim situation in the besieged Syrian city:

Yesterday, she tweeted that her dad was injured, while her mother posted a "final message."

The UN's human rights office said Syrian pro-government forces have been entering homes in eastern Aleppo and killing civilians inside, including women and children. "We're filled with the deepest foreboding for those who remain in this last hellish corner" of eastern Aleppo, said spokesman Rupert Colville.

Activists in the besieged part of the city sent "goodbye" messages and appeals on Twitter.

Abdulkafi Alhamdo, a teacher turned activist as well as friend of Bana's mum, also posted a harrowing "last call" video:

Other activists posted their harrowing messages on social media:

At a news conference in Geneva, Colville said his office had received reports of 82 civilians reportedly shot, including 11 women and 13 children.

A pro-regime source denied these allegations.

Around 100,000 people are believed to be trapped inside a small area of the city.

The Syrian regime announced Dec. 12 that it had captured as much as 96 percent of the city, leaving thousands of civilians trapped inside a small area of southern Aleppo’s al-Ansari Mashad District, according to activist reports from inside the city.
